After 2 years away it feels like a very long break, but now Badminton is back!
Showcasing the very best in the Eventing world, Badminton is a prestigious 5* event. It begins with the Grassroots Championships opening the event on Tuesday 3rd and Wednesday 4th May 2022.
The International competition begins with the first horse inspection, also known as the trot-up, on Wednesday afternoon, where a jury of vets ensure the horses are fit and able to compete.
The ridden competition runs over 3 days, starting on Thursday 5th May 2022 with the dressage phase, which also spans across Friday too due to time restraints. During the dressage phase, the competitors complete a set test, which is a course of complex movements between markers within the dressage arena. The riders aim to ride an accurate and elegant test and are judged by three judges who can award up to 10 points for each movement.
On Saturday, it begins to get very exciting with the adrenaline-fueled cross-country phase where the riders’ and horses’ bravery, accuracy, and stamina are tested to the maximum. With around 45 jumping efforts, which can be built to an approximate height of 1.20m, with a spread of 2m, and drops around 1.8m, this testing 4-mile course really is the ultimate test of a horse and rider’s partnership.
Following the thrills (and hopefully not too many spills) of the cross-country, the horses and riders have to keep their cool and concentration to leave the 1.30m high Show jumps upright in the final phase on Sunday.
With over 500 Trade stands – don’t forget to visit ours at 23 Allengrove Avenue, where we will be displaying a range of our Trailers and Internal Stables. With a Shetland Grand National, Stallion Parade and many other attractions, Badminton really is a fantastic family day out. This year there will be no tickets sold on the gate, so if you are planning on attending do make sure that you buy your tickets in advance. See more at the Badminton Horse Trials website here.
We are also proud to be supporting Badminton’s Charity of the Year, Riding for the Disabled (RDA) who are raffling off a Cheval Liberté Touring Country, complete with Tack Room to raise money for their worthy cause.
We look forward to seeing you there showing off our latest trailers and stables, chatting with old friends and meeting new ones.
