Christmas may well be fast approaching, but believe it or not, now is the best time to start planning for a new equestrian barn.
The cold, wet and dark winter months are easily the best time of year to start planning for your new equestrian barn.
Cheval Liberté is already sitting down with customers all over UK and Ireland working through the planning phases for 2026 equestrian barn builds, so why not take advantage of this time of year to speak with one of our stabling experts, and start planning for 2026.
WHY IS NOW A GREAT TIME TO START PLANNING FOR 2026?
There are a few very important reasons:
Better scheduling options – booking in an equestrian barn project now with Cheval Liberté in preparation for 2026 ensures you have a guaranteed build time that meets your needs and requirements, and sometimes you can also secure some better pricing options.
Lead time – a good run up to the project allows you to secure all the relevant permits, work through design options and revisions, budgeting and for ordering materials in advance of the project.
Spring into 2026 – a good phase of planning also guarantees that construction on your new equestrian barn can commence in early spring, giving you the best chance of completing the barn build early in the year. Spring also offers the best conditions that are ideal for excavation and foundation work.
WHAT DOES A SEASONAL PLANNING GUIDE LOOK LIKE WHEN WORKING WITH CHEVAL LIBERTÉ?
The Cheval Liberté stabling team are already busy planning for projects commencing in early 2026, so if you have an equestrian barn project in the pipeline for next year, why not think about getting ahead of everything and get things off and running in December.
Now/Winter – this period is perfect for planning, design, and for seeking and sorting out any required permits.
Early Spring – Once the design has been approved, this phase focuses on groundwork, excavation and the start of construction.
Rest of 2026 – enjoy your new equestrian barn and have the peace of mind that you have everything in place ahead of Autumn/Winter 2026.

HICKSTEAD & CHEVAL LIBERTÉ – THE PERFECT EQUESTRIAN PARTNERSHIP
In early 2025, the All England Jumping Course,Hickstead, entrusted Cheval Liberté with the UK’s most important equestrian project in 2025.
The dream and brainchild of one man, Douglas Bunn, Hickstead opened its doors in 1960. Today, Hickstead is one of the most iconic and prestigious equestrian venue in the world hosting major events that include The Al Shira’aa Hickstead Derby Meeting and The Agria Royal International Horse Show.
Due to its continued success and growth, The All England Jumping Course required new stabling to elevate its offering to international competitors and to accommodate the growing numbers of horses, riders and competitors attending the venue throughout the course of the year.
Hickstead appointed Cheval Liberté UK & Ireland to support the venue with the manufacture and build of the new stabling accommodation with work commencing in mid-January 2025.
The new bespoke stables were designed and created to meet all Hickstead’s specific needs, and this consisted of an extremely impressive six Manoir American Barns, comprising a total of 204 stables made from recycled plastic with an essential insulated roof.
The inclusion of recycled plastic was integral to the brief provided by Hickstead – this decision will ensure that the new barns and stables are durable, low-maintenance, safe, water resistant, versatile, cost effective and eco-friendly.
“Cheval Liberté were the perfect choice for Hickstead especially with their commitment to absolutely no compromises with the quality of product and service provided. Working in partnership with Cheval Liberté is rewarding on several levels – not only are they experts in the field of equestrianism, but they also deliver on everything they promise backed with real enthusiasm and professionalism.
On top of this, Cheval Liberté is a family owned and operated business, just like Hickstead is. The working relationship with Cheval Liberté is seamless, they truly understand us and our needs on every level, and right from the start they have gone above and beyond for Hickstead which we are extremely grateful for”.
